Pump with a peep
Finally gave in to a yearning and picked up a Henry Pump 22LR - just to see how it shoots compared to Henry's lever 22's. Swapped out the front bead sight with a Lyman Globe and added a Skinner peep on the rear.
Sighted it in at 25 yds with some CCI mini-mag 36G copper-plated hollow points.
Not the greatest group, but good enough for my "minute of pepsi can" plinking standard. I'm sure someone with better eyes could tighten up this group - this is definitely a nice shooting rifle. (which is what you'd expect from a Henry octagon barrel)
This little rifle is a lot of fun - with the octagon barrel it has some heft to it and pumping those 22 rounds into the chamber instead of levering them in is kind of a nifty change of pace. Now we can pop pepsi cans with a peeped pump...

Re: Pump with a peep
I'm with you on the pump rifle thing. I shot pumper shotguns all my life, but only recently bought a pump 22 rifle in our Winchester Model 61. I went with a Skinner barrel peep, since it was the only way to mount a peep on this great classic pump 22. I'm having a blast with it. No doubt about it, cycling a pump is faster and easier than cycling a lever gun. We all love our lever guns, of course, but if the pump rifle had been invented a bit earlier in the game, I think it would have been a big hit in the early days of the Old West and there would be a lot more tradition behind it. Anyway, pump 22 rifles are addictive. I'm already looking for another one.

Gun looks great and so does your range!
I'd like to try a pump one day. The stroke looks really short which makes sense given the 22 case length. Probably takes some getting used to though.

I put a Skinner barrel mounted peep on my pump action, and it's great. Normal iron sights and my eyes just don't play well together, but the Skinner's are superb.
That's a great looking range you have, too!

Naw, very intuitive. A breeze to operate compared to a lever.

I'd like to find one in the area to try before buying.
