Henry .22?

I was planning on going to my lgs tomorrow to look and at and buy my 3rd Henry. I have the .45 colt and 45-70 and love them both. Now I have a hankering for a .22.so I thought I'd check this forum out. Seems there are quite a few issues with them. Talk me out of my doubts,...please.

I love my henry youth. Accurate... my light weight go to squirrl gun.

I have had a H001 for a long time and have never had an issue.
I have thought about adding a Frontier in 22 mag.
If I ever stumble across one it might very well follow me home.
But as with most new and old firearms it pays to look them over right well before you plop down the funds.

I’ve purchased several Henry 22’s and have put a lot of lead down range with them and have not had a problem with any of them.

Only issue I have had with mine is that it is way too much fun to shoot. Can’t take it to the range and not leave with a big smile on my face.

I'm unaware of any general issues with any of the Henry .22 offerings. I love my SGC Carbine. Nuttn' but fun.

Have H001, SGC, and the pump in 22 LR. They are each special in their own way and I have had no problems with them.

I own a pre Frontier Oct barrel with a large loop lever on it. Also have a pump and a Monument Valley edition. Never once had an issue with any of them. My only complaint is I dont get enough trigger time with them.

I own 19 Henrys with 17 of them being rimfires. Yes I’ve had very minor problems but bother I couldn’t fix myself except for the very first one made in 1999.

Well, that didn't take long. I looked over their classic lever action .22 and pritnear bought it, but then noticed that the receiver looked to be painted black.
So I put it back on the rack. After visiting with the clerk who is an old friend of mine who owned a very successful plumbing and heating business and now retired and a couple of other fellas, I walked back over and handled a few other models which were mostly commemorative with all the fancy engraving. Very nice, but not my cup of tea. The last one I picked up had the blued octagon barrel and polished silver looking receiver and barrel band. It had one engraving on the right side of the stock. Evil Roy. I fell in love with the fit and finish instantly. As I sit here typing this, the gun is right here beside me at home. I'm so looking forward to the planned trip to the range tomorrow. This is my third Henry now but I'm sure it won't be my last.

I bought a Henry Golden Boy as my first Henry. I found a small crack in the fore end and looked into their customer service. Without hassle, they sent me a new one, a Henry patch and a catalog. I installed the new one and never looked back.
I eventually ended up here. By the way, my first call to Henry customer service was also my last. All of mine have been trouble free since then.

Only problem you may encounter is not comparing the competing models available. I had a chance on a new Golden Boy in 22wmr for a little over $500 at the beginning of the pandemic. I thought who would want one at the time. The answer is me now, I'm sure the price is up now due to...(enter your own reason here ).

I have 2 SGC (.22 and .22mag), mares leg in .22 and a big boy steel in .357. Not an issue with one of them and would buy another in a heartbeat. Even if I got on with an issue I know the folks at Henry would make it right. Be prepared to feed the .22 as they are a hoot to shoot, my wife’s favorite long gun.

One of the problems I have with a number of my firearms is that they use too much ammo.

I have an H001 and a Goldenboy. I think the plain Jane H001 is the best deal around in new leverguns.

I had to send my Frontier back to Henry 4 times before they replaced it with a new one. The first one the last 1/8th inch of the bore was not rifled, the replacement barrel was bad also. I have a new rifle that is ok but the fore grip has an eighth inch gap between the action and forstock. Just couldn't bring myself to send it back again.

Being you are going to a gun store go over it carefully and take a bore scope.

I have the Evil Roy that I just purchased also. Love that rifle, very well made. Henry has discontinued that rifle earlier in 2023. So that was an excellent purchase.

I have several Henry .22's. I bought my first one in 1997 - the Henry Classic H001 rifle. I now have the H001 carbine, the H004 Golden Boy, and the H001TM Frontier .22 Mag. I have 4 grand children that are grown now but as they were growing up, we put thousands of rounds of rimfire ammo through those rifles. Never had an issue with any of them. The only occasional feeding problem was if the kids short stroked the action while trying to beat grandpa in a steel challenge.
