Conundrum
Conundrum
At my LGS I found a Henry rifle listed as a H001v Varmint Express In .17 HMR. That is also what the box label expressed. I bought it and took it to my shop to clean I looked it up on the Henry catalog. It does not look like picture in the catalog, it looks exactly like the Magnum Express H001ME which only come in .22 WMR. The only difference in them was that the magnum express had a flat picatinny style scope mount and mine had a cantilever style scope mount. I’m more confused than normal

Re: Conundrum
The rifle caliber should be stamped on the barrel near the rear sight. Or similar location on the sightless WMR. With newer made, might also be able tell from the serial number. The Hseries model # and caliber are becoming more common in Henry rifle serial numbers.

Re: Conundrum
Maybe you got a free cantilever scope mount thrown in by your LGS. An actual picture of the rifle setup you got from the LGS might help our understanding.
Some other thoughts...
Henry's rifle should be stamped "Cal .17 HMR" as well as "Henry Repeating Arms".
Check the serial number on the box compared to the rifle.

Re: Conundrum
The picatinny rail would have been easy to change by a previous owner. Or was this a new rifle that came from Henry like this. I’m a bit confused myself. Can you take a picture?brm4450 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 10:48 pmThat is not the rifle I bought, mine looks like the magnum expressSir Henry wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 9:58 pmI also have one. Re: Conundrum
As Mags said, check the serial numbers on both the rifle and the box. If they don’t match you should call Henry customer service. Give them the serial number on the rifle and they will be able to identify the rifle. Even if they do match call them they can tell you what the gun was manufactured as.
