Dropped my Henry Classic

Post by Sir Henry » Sun Aug 28, 2022 6:19 pm

:( I was going to shoot my Brooklyn Classic from 1999 and I dropped it. I don’t even have anything to stain it with as l left all that stuff in Washington. I think if I just stain it the scratches won’t be noticeable.

Think if you fill and sand you will end up with a larger area to stain and the fill may not take stain the same as the wood. Unless the damage causes discomfort while handling, probably some light stain that you could use multiple coats to to darken if needed would help. That is a pretty good one.

Character marks, slap a little stain on them and carry on.
Happens all the time with hunting rifles, something to remember.
Y'all think it's the end of the world to get a little scratch here and there.
Just like a new car, if ya take it out of the driveway stuffs gonna happen.
It still shoots for Christ sakes.

Glad to hear it, there for a minute I was wondering. ;)
I know you've been around firearms a long as I and we know how things happen. 8-)
Heck, most of the people on this forum would have most likely not bought my 44 BBB like it was/is when I purchased it.
Brass was/is dulled and the stocks have a couple dings, :o hunting rifle most likely...CoooL ;)
Any way sorry bout the scratches brother, didn't mean to pick at cha bad.

Is Henry using something besides walnut now? Those scratches are awfully white for walnut unless they're using sapwood for stocks which I would find very disappointing.
