WMR and everything else at our Walmart today

Post by CT_Shooter » Sat Sep 17, 2016 12:40 pm

I just back from my local Walmart and I couldn't believe the inventory of ammunition they had today. Totally stocked, including CCI mini-mag 40s (which I bought for $7.47 per 100 - limit 3 boxes), CCI shorts, CCI .17 HMR, and CCI WMR. I'm going to go back in the morning to pick up some shorts, if they're still on the shelf by then.

Get 'em while there HOT !! Wife checked the other day at our's, been waiting for Perfecta 9MM. She said the usual guy there said they got 1 box
on the shipment !! The manager was there also and said he would check why....
Got a Lee progressive press set up for 9s, but hard to beat 9.97 for 50, when they ever get them I'm buying 4-5 boxes.
I did order some bullets though, just in case. good deal too

It would sure be nice if Walmart started getting 22LR and 22WMR consistently back on their shelves again - it would probably drive prices down everywhere else it is sold.

I haven't seen CCI, Hornady, Federal or Remington .22WMR anywhere in my area for at least a year. Hope they migrate westward!

I picked up three 100 round boxes of CB shorts (29 gr. lead, 710 fps) this morning. In the three years that I've been shopping for ammunition, I have never seen 22 shorts on anyone's shelf. They still had lots of rimfire inventory.

Stopped by Walmart last week and the entire case was stocked EXCEPT the rimfire section which was completely empty.

Strange the lack of ammo in the states. It's plentiful here in Australia and we get a lot of it from you guys. I always buy ammo by the brick, mostly CCI Hp mini mags. I have read about the ammo shortage in America for some time , but seems it has never affected us. I'm guessing we get a certain part of production set aside. Never been subjected to rationing either. Can buy as much ammo as you can afford. Not a brag session , just find it odd considering we source it from you guys.

June, 2015, Walmart removed rimfire and a lot of other calibers from their online inventory so computer programs like Brassbadger and Ammo-Can could no longer track it. Many people (gougers) used both of those apps to get a jump on newly arrived stock, which was often then sold online at huge markups. A Walmart associate once told me that whenever rimfire ammunition would arrive, the same three or four guys would be waiting as soon as it opened to buy it. Often, the new inventory would only be ten boxes, so they would each buy three in first few minutes, cleaning it out.

When I first started shooting a few years ago, I used both of those apps myself to locate and buy 22LR, and I always bought as much of it as was allowed. Even though I now have a large stock of it, I still bought 600 rounds last week when I happened to see it on their shelf. It's a hard habit to break.

Now that those programs have been disabled, we can hope that we'll regularly see more of it on Walmart's shelves. Maybe it will return to the way it once was, when a person could go to a Walmart or LGS on the way to the range and not wonder if they had any 22s for sale.
