2nd update on new sights for H001

Post by deano5150 » Mon Nov 01, 2021 8:41 am

I received a taller front sight from Williams Fire sights. With a little adjustment I'm on target at 30 yards like I wanted. Only
one problem. The screw they send with the sight is too large in diameter to thread into the barrel. I had to use the Henry
factory front sight screw. The problem is it's too short. Only long enough to catch the first thread or two. I just so happens
that I stripped out the first couple of threads trying to install the screw Williams sent. The only thing holding my sight on
is blue loctite. I have emailed Henry to find out what size screw they use to see if I can find a longer one somewhere.
Oh the trials and tribulations!

Can't help ya on the size, but check out an Ace Hardware store, some have a section with the right type screws.

Might want to find out what the exact screw size is as in thread count. In guns with shallow hole depth they use specialty fine thread screws other than what you find at hardware stores.

Yes, sir. That's what I'm concerned about. Even if Henry can tell me the correct size and thread count I'm afraid I'll have a
hard time finding it.

Surprisingly Ace has a very large selection. I’ve found several firearms screws and springs there.

Our Ace Hardware has a small section that has gun screws, nuts and springs. .

First thing I would be doing is contacting Williams and tell them what model you have and asking what screw should have been with the sight. I bet that they have the correct length and size. I bet they will correct it at no charge since it is their sight.

Added in EDIT: Sorry, Folks!!! Didn't look at the date for this thread. Went back to the Lever Action Rimfires Index, and found
the other updates. I would assume this issue has been resolved by now.........
