Henry .17 nickel plating

Post by Brando73 » Mon Sep 27, 2021 11:11 pm

Pics are horrible but had the action cover fore grip ring and screws nickel plated on my Henry Varmint and it looks great. Pics are terrible.

Looks great! Did you have that plating done or did it come that way? Be great if Henry would make a run of steel receiver covers that could be color case hardened.

I had it plated by a place that does it. I can do plating but only small stuff. Here's a vid of the gun that shows more.

Took her out to play today but lots of wind here in OK. Did ok with 17 gr and 20 gr at 100 yds. I'll take her out when I can get a good zero at 100 yds and then see which gr does best at 100 and 200. I keep thinking about putting my iron sight back on and nickel plating them. I like iron sights and I'm pretty good with them even with my glasses. I won't be shooting this in any competition or distance for fun, but I can see shooting some coyotes, snakes and turtles that are a pain. I'm going on a wild hog shoot this week and I'm going to see if the HMR .17 will kill a wild boar. (they are tearing up our country here). I know it will go through a 2x4 like butter.
