Frontier Model Threaded Barrel 24″

Post by gecsr1 » Sat Sep 18, 2021 1:11 pm

Just purchased one of these and it has the short magazine tube 10 rounds ( makes it California okay to purchase) supressor ready threaded barrel , with the short loading tube don't not have to remove suppressor to load... most likely I will never use a supresser on it...

anyone have one ? and what is your take on it... likes and dislikes ......

Thanks

I don't have the Frontier with the threaded barrel but after one trip back to Henry to get its "muzzle adjusted" my 24" Frontier shoots very well. I did add some nylon spacers to the hammer spring to give it a stronger strike and faster lock time. The spacers may are not made a difference with reliability but the lock time is noticeably faster. I think it makes a difference with offhand shooting.

I've had one for around 4 years now & have been very pleased with it, it's been quite accurate & whisper quiet with my Silencerco Sparrow installed & has accounted for dozens of squirrels & a couple of coyotes loaded with Remington 22 Subsonic ammo.

Do the spacers increase the trigger pull? I’m talking pounds not length.

I have the 24” frontier in .22WMR. I put a tang sight on it and the sight distance is right at 30”.

Sir Henry the spacers increased the pull about .25lbs. The original trigger pull was about 3.5lbs and fairly crisp. I polished the sear face and the hammer notch with a fine stone and now it is a very nice bump tested 2.5lbs.

Thanks. I might try it on one of mine to see how I like it.

gecsr1, reminds me of a time before I fled California. I have bought several guns from Turners years ago and always hated waiting for the ten days. When I bought my first gun in Mo. it felt really strange to just buy a gun and walk out of the store with it. Do you still have to take a "safety test to buy a gun there?

Yes there is a safety test that you must take it's good for five years , then you need to retake it, also every time you purchase a firearm you have to do a background check with cost 35.00/40.00 dollars. If I wasn't 74 years old and my kids both live here I would be gone too..
I only have to wait less than2 hours and my ten days will be up..... so I am killing time on the forums....LOL
It's a 25 minute drive to the Turners Store... so I will be leaving soon...
