Shooting BB’s got me thinking about my Golden Boy

Post by Sir Henry » Thu Aug 12, 2021 5:19 am

Shooting so many bb’s awhile back got me thinking about my GB because I tend to hold them about the same. Instead of tucking them into my shoulder I almost push outwards.

With the GB it’s because of the low comb. With the Red Ryder it’s just because.

I like large loops. This is a custom made one. I bought it on eBay years ago.

The sights are completely off the wall but seem to work. This is almost an anti-aircraft sight which is viewed from a relative distance.

Up front is a crosshair peep. Held high and out the rear sight inner peep is slightly bigger than the front peep.

This is a good combination to shoot a gong painted white with a dark backstop. You are most on target when it’s the brightest sight picture. The gongs need to be the same size as my NRA 25, 50, 100 yard Small Bore Rifle targets.

I’ve built several Henry rimfires for very specific shooting situations. Henry is the only lever action rimfire that I know of where you can modify like this and then quickly change them back without destroying its value.

The Ruger 10/22 is much the same way with semi’s.

It’s my least favorite Henry and the only way I can shoot it.

The middle rifle here is set up for shooting on your back with the rifle laying along side. The butt should be about a foot away so the rear sight is several feet from your eye.

I would like to get a longer stock for it made. I can rest shoot it better if the stock was another two inches longer.

I have 18 Henry rimfires and each one is built different.
