Not a deal breaker but I was wondering why Henry only has a Single Action Bar on the pump .22 rifles and it didn’t go with the more traditional double action bar that pump rifles used to have 30,40 and 50 years ago.
Was it to save a few bucks? To keep the rifle 2 onces lighter?
Old school: two action bars are more stable than 1, some people say. Would it make a difference on a .22?

Well I have one and so far works very well. If it breaks Henry will fix for free!

understood on double slide bars .... on heavy kickers, I'd prefer having 2 .... on a well designed/built 22LR, I doubt it would make a difference

I have the pump in .22 L.R. It works fine and the more I shoot it, the smoother it gets. I know what you mean about twin action bars as I bought an 870 shotgun in 1968 and the twin bars make it easier to pump. I think that a 12 gauge shotgun is a lot more in need of double action bars than a .22 pump rifle.

In the case of classic pump shotguns like the Model 12, it would have taken extra machining in the receiver to add a another action bar. That would have made an already expensive shot gun even mre expensive.

The genius of the 870 design when it was introduced was its modular construction that did away with all that expensive receiver machining. It really revolutionized pump gun production. Also allowed two action bars with little additional cost, not to mention all parts could be replaced as needed. You can keep an 870 running, forever. IMO, the greatest pump shotgun, ever.

No idea about the Henry pump, though.

The Henry pump was designed from a Classic receiver. Many of the parts are interchangeable. I’ve taken both apart and from what I can tell you can make a Henry pump into a Classic but the Classic can’t be made into a pump.

That might be the biggest reason it only has one.
