Unloading H001
Ok, I can't figure it out... I have a H001. Is there a way to take a round out of the chamber without either unloading the entire rifle or putting a new round in the chamber? When hunting, I like to have a round chambered at times and want to avoid unloading the entire rifle when I don't need a round in the chamber any longer. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for any help!

Re: Unloading H001
don't know if its the text book way of doing so but I loosen the magazine rod, turn the barrel down holding the rod so that the rounds in the magazine slide away from the receiver .... eject the round from the chamber while watching to make sure that another isn't jacked into it ... with the chamber empty close the action and if you wish insert the ejected shell back into the magazine .

Welcome to the Forum from the Show-Me-State!
I'm not sure if there is a better way. Maybe someone else can help. But if I'm getting what you what to do, I'd go this route.
I would only put one bullet in the magazine tube and not chamber it.
When out on the hunt, then chamber that one round.
If you want to unload the round, just cycle the lever and it's out. Just have to then remember the rifle is unloaded with no rounds in the magazine tube.
Basically, working with only a single bullet in or out of the receiver. Not optimal, but seems safe to me on knowing when rifle is loaded or not.

Welcome to the forum from CT. You may get other replies to your question, but the two already posted sound right to me.

Re: Unloading H001
I'm not sure why you would want a loaded magazine and empty chamber when hunting. I hunt with one in the chamber and decocked for safety. I don't hunt very often, and was afraid I would forget to cock the hammer in the excitement of the hunt. Earlier this year I was out with my buddy and spotted a piggie crossing the road. I had the BB up and hammer cocked without thinking about it. Unfortunately, in just that short amount of time, the piggie was just a curly tail disappearing into the bushes.

It seems like with my h001, sometimes you can jack one out after removing tube, other times it seems two have ejected out.
When I go to the Daytona range, the range officers are over the top. They also call cold range w/o waiting for everyone to stop.
Only was there once, but what I had to do, in the middle of shooting, was pull the tube and dump the rounds, then put the tube back and eject what was remaining, then pull the tube out and open the action. By this time everybody is looking at me.
I now realize why I never went back..........

I know what you mean having ROs "over the top."
At our MO conservation ranges, whenever a cease fire is called, I also have to move quickly to unload. I've learned to time my shooting/number of rounds to have an empty magazine just before they shut us down. This way I can relax and check my targets with my range finder before going out to change them...Working OK now for me whenever there. I'd hate to give up range time at only $3/hour for this nice outdoor shooting range!

Re: Unloading H001
the thing I am going to miss the most from our son finishing his residency in St Louis and moving his family back home to NC is Jay Henges shooting park .... for the last 5 years we have spent a couple of weeks there in June on our way to spend the summer in South Dakota and another two weeks during August on our way home .... NC doesn't have anything to compare with the Missouri shooting parks .... I plan to spend as much time as possible at Henges after we get there in a couple of weeksPT7 wrote:I know what you mean having ROs "over the top."

Looking forward to more of your Henges Range Reports, JEBar.
Yes, agreed. The MDC ranges are very nice -- we are fortunate to have them in MO!
