Broken Screw Head on Receiver (Brasslite)
Re: Broken Screw Head on Receiver (Brasslite)
There are screw extractors that don't need a hole to go into, just enough of a divot for them to get a hold on the edge of the divot and stay centered. They look some what like a backwards twist drill bit. There is nothing to get broken off inside a hole. Drilling a divot also does not get deep enough into the screw head to reach the underlying threads. But as others have recommended, this is a last resort DIY if the tapping with a punch/screw driver doesn't get the screw out. With either method make sure to use plenty of layers of masking tape. Don't want to scratch the brasslite receiver if whatever tool used slips off the screw head.

It’s the reflection of the hand and camera of the person taking the picture in the mirror-like finish of the receiver. No peeling.ChefDuane wrote:I noticed that also. What are the black and brown discolored areas around the rear receiver screw?Mistered wrote:What is the darker area around the rear screw? It looks like the finish is peeling off.
