That doesn't sound like something that Henry would allow to escape from the factory. I'd contact them with the details and a picture. Something ain't right.
Yup I agree, I'm going to call Henry and see what they say.

I have 2 Henry's, a .41 mag BBSC, and a .22wmr Frontier rifle. Both were spotless from the factory, which is why I'm a bit surprised at your experience with this one. Let us know what they say. :)

I just sent Henry a very polite email with questions about the condition of the rifle, figured I would start there and see how it goes. If I don't hear back in a few days, I will call them and try to get a reply. I am sure they are very busy this time of year, I will be patient and wait for their reply.

Henry returned my email this morning stating that they have no idea how my rifle got out of the factory with a small loop lever. They also said all rifles are test fired and if the barrel was excessively dirty there might be other issues, and they would need the rifle returned for inspection. They would also change out the lever with the correct one at the same time. They encouraged me to file a warranty claim and they would get it straightened out. I have no intention of returning the rifle, it is what it is and I will play the cards I was delt. I'm happy to have such a fine rifle in my possession. :D

Since you like the small lever anyway, you could have them leave it as is. But it might still be a good idea to have them inspect the rifle.

I want to shoot it first and see how accurate it is, I have an H001Y that is very accurate compared to other rimfires I have. If it needs to go back it will, but I have to give it a chance to prove itself first. My range is closed for the next 6 days due to hunting season, reopens on Monday the 15th and then we will know. I really don't like sending rifles back unless it's a last resort, I did it one time before with PSA and they had the rifle for 12 weeks.

I sent mine for a barrel exchange and got it back in less than a week.

I wanted a large loop for my BBS 357 after I bought it. I called Henry to see about purchasing one and they told me they would just send me one free of charge. I received it in short order. 🙂

That will not happen with Henry. I bet it will be back in 2 weeks or less. I just sent one in for a barrel replacement and had it back in under 2 weeks. They will take care of you fear not.
