Failure to feed
This past Thursday I went to the range W/my son & my Henry H001. Only the 4th time out W/this rifle. I bought it new last October. My question is, it will not feed aprox every 10 to 12 rounds. Is this normal? Possibly get better w/use? Thanks, R20

Re: Failure to feed
Have you tried cleaning the gun including the magazine tube and rod? If it was mine I would take the receiver cover off and clean it real good inside and then try it again. If you have already done that then I would call Henry.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Have you ever lubed it? Take the inner magazine tube out. Push follower in with a pencil or other small rod. SPRAY some lube in there and work the follower back and forth with the rod before re-installing it back in the gun. Also with a Q-tip or similar. Lube the lifter/lever and bolt.

Re: Failure to feed
Be sure to cycle that lever completely, with authority. That would happen to me occasionally after I bought my first Henry. I realised it was ME, not the gun.Ranger2020 wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 9:58 amThis past Thursday I went to the range W/my son & my Henry H001. Only the 4th time out W/this rifle. Thanks for all replies. I should mention that my Henrys get cleaned after every range day. Different brands of ammo make no difference. Have noticed what looks to be tiny brass shavings in mecanisim upon dissassembly to clean. Otherwise I love the rifle. Its great fun to shoot.

One other thing. When it wont feed its like the bullet goes too high & misses the barrel. I just use my pocket knife & reposition the bullet down then is all is fine. thanks

Re: Failure to feed
None of my Henry 22's do that. They all feed any ammo I put through them and work like they should. I would call Henry and let them take care of it.

Re: Failure to feed
I have never had a problem with my H001 feeding ammo but when my grandkids were young, they did at times. I am pretty sure they were short stroking the lever, as Markiver54 mentioned. I also have a Golden Boy H004 and have never had any problems feeding.

Re: Failure to feed
When I get lazy and short stroke the same happens. It's been me and not Henry each time. In all honesty that is why I prefer the smaller lever over the large loop.

Re: Failure to feed
If you decide that you are not the problem, there maybe a burr. The best advice given if not you would let Henry take a look and see if nothing else is obvious. Two weeks (probably less) it will be back to you.
