So, one thing to keep in mind is how much lead ammo you shoot. If you shoot lead ammo regularly, you want to pick a can that can be disassembled and cleaned in a tumbler. If you shoot plated, coated or jacketed only, then you can make do with a sealed can.
How important is that? Well, after about 600 rounds of 38 lead and 45 colt lead, my can weighed about half a pound more. After a long time, your sound reduction will be minimal.
What did i go with, Griffen bushmaster 46v2. I'll likely pick up a bushmaster 36 also.

That is by no means a complete list. As it does not include normal pistol caliber cans, ie those cans not rated for centerfire rifle cartridges. I decided to put up cans that can fire center fire rifle also, as a way to encourage more people to shoot suppressed.Mike_S wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 10:49 amThat is a great list! Never shot a suppressed firearm.
And like Al, stated, way to much bs to go through for my liking.
Besides way out here I have NO need for one.

Shooting suppressed much less fatigueing on my ears.. I have enough hearing loss, that even with muffs, shooting unsuppressed, my ears will ring for days

This is exactly what I was about to say. The main reason I would use one is to protect my hearing. Could not agree more Grouse!
This alone should be enough to make it easier to obtain one.

But it's not... You have to pay for it up front, then you have to apply for the stupid stamp, another $200, which has to go with you where ever you want to shoot it.markiver54 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 12:27 pmThis is exactly what I was about to say. That which takes a year to be Approved, if you're lucky.
Then when you pass your spouse or kids have the task of getting rid of it.
Can only imagine what kinda PIA that would be.

As far as the hearing damage goes, they would probably say, " Then don't be shooting ". Because it relates to guns...

If your ears are ringing after shooting with muffs on then Id say your muffs arent very good. Get a better quality muff and use ear plugs with the muffs. Not trying to deter the purchase of a suppressor if you like that sort of thing to each there own. Im just not willing to participate in another money grab by the feds.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Re: Suppressor for the Homesteader
My muffs are some of the best available. I do double up with plugs as well. That is fine for casual shooting. I'm picturing a self defense situation when I can't ask a four legged or two legged threat to WAIT while I put on my hearing protection. Saving my life comes first of course, but, I don't want to be deaf for the rest of my life either.BigAl52 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 3:01 pmIf your ears are ringing after shooting with muffs on then Id say your muffs arent very good.
