If your ears are ringing after shooting with muffs on then Id say your muffs arent very good. Get a better quality muff and use ear plugs with the muffs. Not trying to deter the purchase of a suppressor if you like that sort of thing to each there own. Im just not willing to participate in another money grab by the feds.
My muffs are some of the best available. I do double up with plugs as well. That is fine for casual shooting. I'm picturing a self defense situation when I can't ask a four legged or two legged threat to WAIT while I put on my hearing protection. Saving my life comes first of course, but, I don't want to be deaf for the rest of my life either.
How often is that going to take place and one shot without muffs isnt going to make you deaf the rest of your life. 99% of people out there that are hunting are not using suppressors.

But those 99%, know that they're going to hopefully be shooting, and have time to put on their hearing protection.
Like I said though, I was referring to a home\personal defense situation, not hunting. it is different outside, as you know. I will probably never own one, however, if I did, I could see having one on my home defense weapon/weapons.
That ONE large bore shot, INDOORS! could be the one to do it.

How many of those 99% hunters can afford to own one?

I went thru Silencer Central to purchase my suppressor and setting it up in a Trust which was included in the purchase solved the issue of passing it on to whom I listed in the Trust. Yes one reason I got it was for use if needed in a home defense situation but it is fun to plink steel with it without hearing protection! One thought I have is if the regulations were taken off during this current time of all the drive by shootings in some areas how long would it be before the thugs had them on the street with quieter shootings? Just a thought.

It is a thought. But, because of the Gov'ment, I probably won’t.
