Just like to say Thanks Dave for putting this sub forum in here. Its been mentioned by several active members to have a place to allow us to mention several members who havent been on line in quite sometime. Just like to say that I miss Deadwood Dutch, Les and Henry 88. Im sure there are others here who feel the same way.

Agreed, Al. It's also a good place to go for anyone who has been away for a while. Both to see they have been missed, plus "re-introduce" themselves if they want. Dave done good.

Kind what I tried to do a while back with my " Chime In " thread.

I miss Whaler's photography. He was last here in 2016, posted then that he was 79.

I knew Deadwood Dutch the best and wondered if anyone ever found out what happened to him. I know that some tried. I mentioned the other day that just out of co-incidence I had just researched his last few posts. Everything seemed fine with him at that time.

I go to quite a few gun shows shows in the area where Dutch lived. I never had his real name but asked some of the vendors that lived in the same area if they knew a man that maybe used the screen name Deadwood Dutch. I was hoping he used that as a nick name or one of the guys there knew him from him being on here or another gun forum. I never got any positive answers from a single guy from the area shows where Dutch was from. I do miss him on here. He was a very nice member.

Maybe Dave will chime in but I think Dave went to the extent of writing him a letter and never heard back.

It not always an issue with the person - people leave forums for a variety of reasons.
Some of you have indicated this is the 'only' forum you are a member of and that's fine but understand there are many gun forums and people will gravitate to where they feel the best 'fit' for their personality, likes/dislikes, beliefs etc.
Some forums offer too little in the way of diversity and some people prefer a larger topic 'base', as well as a larger membership.
Forums are like a 'clubhouse' where people meet to discuss not only the primary, 'base' topics of the forum but other things as well.
Some people build 'relationships' on forums and like to expand them through a common 'core' of communication with a variety of members and a limited content does not allow for this and some get bored and move on.
I have read (several times) on this forum where it has been mentioned 'there are other forums for that' (for certain topics to be posted/discussed) and it's possible some members have taken that suggestion and moved on.

...nice to be missed and remembered fondly though. We should all be so lucky when the time comes.

I am a founding member but I don't post much any more.
I found that I'm a little too political for this forum. That's OK, and I respect Dave's rules.
I still check in and read the forum several times a week.

I wrote to DeadwoodDutch. I have his real name, address and had sent him a few trinkets before. I have also googled obituaries where he is from and haven't seen his demise. I did not receive a response to my letter. I may try again. I don't want to be a pest either.
I miss him also.

I'm political too and have stepped over the line once or twice, but have learned to just change hats when I visit here.
Both are Cowboy Hats though, lol.

I am saddened to report that our old friend, PT7, passed away on November 19th.
I sent him an email on Veteran's Day that went unanswered until this morning, when his daughter kindly replied with the sad news. I never saw Bob in person, but we became long distance friends after meeting here on this forum. We actually had quite a bit in common. We even shared the same birthday. The two of us spent hours talking on the phone during the last few years, especially when he and I were each primary caregivers for our terminally ill wives, both of whom passed away in July of 2017.
I'm sorry I never got the chance to meet him face to face. He was a good man.
Rest in peace, Bob.

Thanks for the report Stan, despite the sadness of it. Was just wondering recently why we had not heard from him.
May he rest in peace.

we are very sorry to hear this report .... my wife and I had the good fortune to meet and spend some time with him .... he was truly a remarkable person .... a repost by Evan (ESquared) from back on Wed Aug 14, 2019
"You guys are all crazy. Here you go. The authorities have granted dispensation. Great time today. Pistols, trap. Someone else can chime in on how many rounds we went through, but I"m guessing a few hundred. Nice BBQ dinner, too. JEBar, E-Squared, Cofisher and
PT7."
