KC Gathering 2020!

Post by ESquared » Mon Dec 16, 2019 11:04 am

Season's Greetings, all!

For those of you who are residents within a reasonable "quick" drive from KC (Cofisher did it from Denver, so there's a yardstick for you!) or might be thinking about other vacation travels for next year, please know that one and all are invited to the 2nd Annual KC Get-Together ("Shoot-n-Scoot!"), which will be held in the July/August-ish timeframe here in metro KC.

There's a thread to two that chronicles what this past summer's gathering amounted to, and that ended up being "not broke," so we'll probably not fix it. In a nutshell, it's Day 1: Arrive/Dinner; Day 2: Range Outing/Dinner; Day 3: See what we feel like doing/Depart. Nothing fancy.

Chime in here, send me a PM, whatever suits you, but it was fun for all in '19, and we'd like to see more members next year join in next year!

Ho, Ho, Ho!

I'm good to do a repeat, Evan. The 2019 gathering was a memorable one for sure. I've not seen so many Henrys brought to the range at one shot before!

And a reminder to any newbies who decide to come. You all will find that the BBQ choices KC has to offer are great, too. So be prepared for lots of shooting, friendly fun, and plenty of rib bones on your plates!

Ho-ho-ho is spot on!

Howdy all. Are those KC ribs sweet and sticky? Also, are they beef or pork? The wife and I are due a vacation this next summer and I was thinking this may be a nice break. Depending on the choice of those ribs. LOL

The BBQ is awesome, no matter the type. However, embarrassing fellow shooters makes the trip worth it. No names mentioned to protect those red faced. Lol

It would be 8-) if you and your wife could take the vacation break and join a KC Gathering. We really did have a great time last summer.

Does your wife shoot, too? The more the merrier! ;)

Waiting for E2 to acknowledge the 20 gauge. That was awesome! Sold it yet?

I'd say most ribs in good KC BBQ places are neither sweet nor sticky, but they are BOTH beef and pork (you choose). In fact, in the pork category, you can usually choose between spare-ribs and baby back. Beef ribs come in a couple cuts as well, depending on where you go. Most have a dry rub and sauce on the side (mild or spicy).

As to the 20 gauge, it's still in the stable, although PT7 might be angling for a barter, provided he proves to himself he can shoot a slug through it reasonably well, which will now depend on a break in the weather so we can get to an outdoor range for a thumbs up/thumbs down session. He's proposed trading his Ruger 22/45 and a boxcar of 22LR ammo, which I'm pondering.

Any and all points of view on the advisability of that transaction are welcome, if for no other reason than the entertainment value of hearing your opinions!
