Link up in Asheville

Post by JEBar » Mon Apr 08, 2019 7:34 pm

tomorrow my wife and I plan to head from our home located south of Raleigh, NC and drive to Asheville in the mountains of western NC ... it is a drive we make monthly when we are home to visit with my Mom who is in a Retirement Home up there .... this trip has a special bonus we are really looking forward to .... that being getting to link up with Mark (markiver54) for lunch at the Moose Cafe .... for anyone traveling through Asheville, the Moose Cafe offers good, solid country cooking

600+ miles later, we are back home .... the drive went well, traffic was heavy both going and returning .... thankfully, the backups were in the other lane .... lunch at Moose was good (as usual) and we really enjoyed getting know Mark (markiver54) .... we are already talking of ways to make that happen again down the line

Wow. 600 miles, that was a day.
Glad you had a safe journey, with some good company and food thrown in.

I am hoping to do some traveling this summer. Can't drive too far, but can do a bit... Mark is on the list... Will try and meet him halfway if he will fall for it. Topping my list is s drive into the hated norva traffic. The National Museum of The Marine Corps. They have added an entire section since Miss T and I made our last trip.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

This post reminds me of the movie Thunder Road with Robert Mitchum. Did you shoot the gap at Cumberland and scream by Maynardville? I drove that road in my old teardrop back in about 2010.
