Re: Various single shots
I bought a Stevens "Crack Shot 22" circa 1914 last year. Neat little rifle with falling block loading. Still shootable, but rifling worn, so not so accurate.

Re: Various single shots
Amazing single shot rifle collection AND old cartridge collection, too. Some big bucks in both collections.
Our 1885 single shots survived our recent powder gun sell off and so did our very best bolt guns. Even though the bolt guns are more accurate, I'd sell them before the single shots.

Re: Various single shots
I've never shot it at paper, I need to though.
But I can ring the 8" gong in the back yard that is roughly 50 yds. from the deck consistently.
Thanks NCG.

Re: Various single shots
Thanks for posting the photos of the old Stevens rifles. I think that you will find that those are swinging block actions . The only Stevens that was a true falling block was the 44 1/2 action. I had a 44 action swinging block rifle in 32-40. I bought some C.I.L. ammo and pulled the bullets so I could reload them to black powder pressures so I wouldn't spring the action.
