Re: Guess what I just ordered...
I have been researching and found out that Pedersoli makes the barrels for the Uberti 1885 rifles. Interesting.

I think the 1885 rifle is where reloading will benefit me. I may be able to experiment a little. Right now I am loading 250gr to just above minimum powder charge, but may be able to push it a little. We'll see what the books say.

I'm not surprised based on some of the posts I have read elsewhere that Italy manufactures actually make guns for each other. Chiappa for example sells a Sharps but this is supposedly made by Pedersoli.

So you think the gun manufacturer might provide certain guidelines as well?

No idea, I will just research and read everything I can to see what people are loading and shooting. I assume this single shot action is stronger than the 1860 Henry toggle link, but need to research.dddrees wrote:RanchRoper wrote:I think the 1885 rifle is where reloading will benefit me. Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Re: Guess what I just ordered...
thanks for the info .... I've simply had zero interest in single shots so I haven't bothered to try and learn anything about them .... from a history buff's view, I have enjoyed doing limited reading about early Sharps rifles

That falling block action on the 1885 will take alot more than the toggle link. You can probably load some Griz loads in that one.

I see, I thought you might have some knowledge with regards to that already.
