Got the H&R ...now

Post by Ozarkwoodswalker » Wed Nov 24, 2021 3:51 pm

I like it but the trigger pull is aittle heavy. Anyone know if the trigger can be lightened by a gun Smith , or are there are any drop in triggers made for those old single shot H&R 158's? The trigger is not terrible.... just some heavier than I like. Just wondered of anyone knew about them here...

if you know a good gunsmith, it might pay to give him a call .... I've owned and used a H&R single shot 12ga but never one of their rifles .... looking forward to learning what you find out

Like Jim, I've had a couple of their scatter guns, actually I think I still do.
But never even shot one of the rifles.
I've never looked at the trigger assembly.

There are several very detailed videos on youtube about improving the trigger pulls on HR rifles. One of them is over an hour long.

I own a couple of H&R single shots, most in large caliber rifle chamberings.
I have one in .500 S&W mag, .45-70gvt, and .444 Marlin.
None of the triggers are what would be considered "match" or competition, but I've not found them to be bad enough to want to change them.
