Re: Guess what I just ordered...
I have a scabbard for it, and will pack it occasionally just for the sheer fun of it, but the 1860 is my saddle rifle. Yes it will shoot the same loads as the 1860, however I did load up some higher end 45 Colt just to see how they go. Not at max though, and I am not interested in shooting +P loads.

Re: Guess what I just ordered...
Good call on not going +P loads. Don't need 'em. That High Wall is going to have a tough time shooting as tight as that 1860. Make it work.

Indeed. All you need is an old bucket and a rider.JEBar wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 6:59 pmRanchRoper wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 6:36 pmI did load up some higher end 45 Colt just to see how they go.

Re: Guess what I just ordered...
I'd bet he already has a bucket and could quickly find a rider ..
Re: Guess what I just ordered...
Hey All,
Really nice looking rifle. I've no doubt it'll shoot straight. Looking forward to seeing a 500 yd target filled with holes

Hey All,
RR if your going to try long range shooting and being period correct are you going to try creedmore shooting positions like in the pic?

I'm no expert but I think there are more positions for long guns and handguns an such.
I had no idea people would invent such positions but Elmer Kieth used them with handguns. Some of those with rifles I'd likely fall asleep.

I had the stock cover made rough side out so it will age real nice. He usually makes them smooth side out.

I have shouldered it many times this afternoon, it is a handful with that long barrel. Weighs in around 10 lbs I think. Recoil should be nonexistent.

Congrats RR, finally sir, I know your glad to finally to have it in hand.
She looks very nice and the butt cuff and sight really set it off.
Like, I believe it was Tom said, have no doubt she'll be a shooter.
Anxiously awaiting to see some targets.

for me firing it from a standing position would require shooting sticks .... do you anticipate any changes from the way you fire you lever rifle

Re: Guess what I just ordered...
Bet these would make a good 45 Colt High Wall load. Shoot great in my Henry Carbine and carry some punch!
That 1100 FPS was out of my 2.5 inch Ruger Alaskan. Alliant 2400 would have good burn time in your long barrel.
