Re: Guess what I just ordered...
This has been a strange one for sure, for those who missed it:
- Spring 2019, ordered a low wall 45 Colt from Cimarron
- Cimarron didn't supply them anymore due to low demand
- asked my dealer if he could get one anywhere else, he said he could get from Taylors
- Taylors showed 1 in stock, but did not have it
- Taylors said they could order from Uberti factory in Italy, delivery Sept 2019
- my gun dealer said no problem he had to renew his import license anyway so timing was fine
- took until January 2020 for him to get through all the paperwork and hoops for licensing through Ottawa and Washington
- my gun dealer is ready to go, calls Taylors and they didn't get any Ubertis, just Pedersoli 45-70 hi walls which I can get if I want one
- no thanks, they are one ugly rifle, and don't want 45-70
- flu hits and Italy goes on lockdown in Feb 2020
- now nobody can get anything moving anywhere
- waiting, waiting
- I happen to be on Dixie Gun Works site one day and see a Uberti hi wall in 45 Colt
- my gun guy can't buy from them, suggest I buy it and have it shipped with his Cimarron stuff
- it's now July 2020 when I buy it from DGW
- it ships to Colorado to catch his exporter shipment
- the stuff leaves Colorado in mid Sept 2020
- arrives in Calgary Alberta last week
You can't make this stuff up. Sure hope they shipped the right rifle...

Re: Guess what I just ordered...
That IS a trail of determination! Can that rifle handle Ruger classed .45 Colt loads as in a 300 gr load at higher than 14000 psi Colt?

Re: Guess what I just ordered...
The Uberti 1885 High Wall in 45 Colt. Fit and finish are gorgeous. Wood to metal joints real nice. 32" octagon barrel, MVA rear tang that I just put on it. Correct to the period for that rifle I believe. Stock cover by gunstockcover.com. Just gave it a good clean and glad I did because the barrel was very dirty. Must have been upright in a gun rack in the Dixie store for awhile. Lots of crud came out. Not lead, dirt. Anyhow, she's clean and ready to shoot now. The sighting is pretty cool on it. I am anxious to see how well I dial it in. Range is closed until weekend for RCMP practice.
Enjoy the pics.

Re: Guess what I just ordered...
I have a scabbard for it, and will pack it occasionally just for the sheer fun of it, but the 1860 is my saddle rifle. Yes it will shoot the same loads as the 1860, however I did load up some higher end 45 Colt just to see how they go. Not at max though, and I am not interested in shooting +P loads.

Re: Guess what I just ordered...
Good call on not going +P loads. Don't need 'em. That High Wall is going to have a tough time shooting as tight as that 1860. Make it work.

Indeed. All you need is an old bucket and a rider.JEBar wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 6:59 pmRanchRoper wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 6:36 pmI did load up some higher end 45 Colt just to see how they go.

Re: Guess what I just ordered...
I'd bet he already has a bucket and could quickly find a rider ..
Re: Guess what I just ordered...
Hey All,
Really nice looking rifle. I've no doubt it'll shoot straight. Looking forward to seeing a 500 yd target filled with holes
