I just found a new source for ammo here in Canada that sells Black Hills...very hard to find around here. I love BH ammo. Guess Sanat will be cleaning them out soon... :D

RR --- Congrats on finding a Black Hills source.....that's great! :D I've shot quite a lot of it in .357 magnum, and now the .45LC. Like very much how it performs...could be about my favorite ammo manufacturer.

I'll be interested in comparing prices with you on the BHA ammo (50-round box). Just last month I bought two boxes of Black Hills Ammo 250gr RNFP. Sticker shock with shipping on top of it. CT_Shooter and BigAl have encouraged me to reload .45LC someday. It's both a cost savings, and they enjoy reloading. Shall see.

Hope your stocking is filled nicely with some good BHA. And make sure that the stocking is stitched with a very strong leather, Cowboy! Those big bullets are heavy, as you well know!

It is just over $1/round here but I like to have some in the cabinet. I have a few boxes still, but one can never have enough ammo...

My BHA is close to your cost, RR. I got mine at Cabelas. I paid $42.99/50 rounds plus $3.59 tax. I include the tax(and/or shipping) to calculate per bullet cost. So my BHA was $0.93/round.

Target practice rounds are definitely less, and the way to go if one can do.
All these performed quite well out of the Russian:

HSM @ $0.59/round.
Aguila @ $0.63/round.
Choice Ammo @ $0.51/round.

Probably will stick with the "cheaper" Choice for range practice.
Again, really glad you found a BHA source! :D

45 Colt selection is not as varied here. Winchester is most expensive but great ammo. Sellier & Bellot is some of the least expensive but still very good ammo. Other than that there is only about a half dozens brands of factory ammo, including some reloads.

I still have confidence that one of these days you will take the plunge and refill all of your empty cases .... when that day comes your expenses will drop and you will be able to spend much more time posting even more impressive targets .. ;)
