This is what I use. Nothing special, just what is most readily available at the LGS in .30-30. Preference is 150gr just because I don't need anything higher. I have been forced recently to buy 170gr as even a spot on the shelf no longer exists for the 150.

My Henry seems to prefer the Remington over the Winchester. I have not yet fired the Federals. Last time at the LGS, the other two brands I bought the last 2 boxes off the shelf. Bought the Federal in case I ran out during my last trip to the range. With what I had on hand and bought I didn't expend enough rounds to need to shoot the Federals.

Remington Core-LoktĀ®
Winchester Xtreme Power-Point Deer and Black Bear
Federal Power Shok

I get the best accuracy in my 1860 Uberti Henry with Winchester 250 gr LFN. Very consistent ammo. But my rifle seems to feed well with many other types. The 45 Colt cartridge seems pretty simple so not likely much variation between manufacturers. Black Hills is quite good too.

My 30-30 seems to like Winchester 150gr in Power Point. Hornady 150gr is second. I have some Remington 150gr. But, they are the less liked. I plan to deplete them and replace with Winchester. I tried 170gr. But, grouping seemed a bit wide.

Finally shot the Federal 170gr Power Shok. Talked about that in my last range report. My Henry so far likes them the best. I have a box of Fusion 150gr .30-30 to try someday soon. Those of you that have shot Fusion, what was your experience?
