They're baaaack! The one nearest me just got stocked up last week. Stopped by this morning and checked it out. Pretty good selection of the major brands and calibers, and prices are competitive with local gun shops. Bought a couple boxes of Federal range ammo - .45acp

This is a corporate rollout.

A little more than what I pay at my usual LGS, but it saves me about $2 in gas unless I'm in town on other business. I drive right past the store to and from Columbus.

I wish my local Tractor Supply was more interested in stocking ag supplies and implement parts than introducing ammo inventory.

Quite recently, I broke an 18" disc on a disc harrow and needed to replace it as quickly as I could since further food plot preparations were at a standstill. I went to my local TS and was advised they don't carry individual discs. The very pleasant young lady at the front told me they do sell disc harrows, however.

I told her no thanks, I already have that it is the individual disc I need, not the complete implement. She smiled pleasantly and said I understand.

I bought a couple of discs at my local Kubota dealer and fortunately they were not expensive.

However, the man behind the parts counter at the Kubota dealership was not nearly as cute as the young lady at TS.

That could be a factor. Yes, years ago, a manager at a Tractor Supply told me they have lots of stuff, just not much for tractors and such. He was a good manager and got any store in the area he wanted. He should be retired by now.

I was at my local John Deere dealership today to buy maintenance parts (engine oil filter, JD lithium grease and a gallon of Hy-Gard trans fluid) for my annual Fall tractor service. As usual, the two guys behind the parts counter located the oil filter I needed in a matter of minutes and gave me good advice on which viscosity Hy-Gard I needed.

Also, not nearly as cute as the TS lady but they are efficient and knowledgeable. At 76, I prefer efficient and knowledgeable. Can't use pretty any more.

I think they should get an Ammo Vending Machine.

I don't think that would be better than the Ammo Den. Those are only being put in rural grocery stores last I heard, and you've got to scan in some ID, pay with debit/credit card, etc. The TS approach is much more customer friendly, imho.

The check ID thing can be creepy to some. The machine scans your drivers license to verify age and then uses AI facial recognition camera to verify the drivers license picture to the person standing in front of the vending machine. Most of the time I buy ammo with a credit card so doing so at a vending machine wouldn't concern me (I never use a debit card for purchases - just for cash at my bank's ATM). On a side note, Home Depot and Lowes here use AI powered cameras at self checkout. The camera above each self checkout station is watching to make sure you scan all your items, while the facial camera records you and verifies who you are to your credit card. Both stores have gone totally self checkout. No more cashiers.

My preference priority in buying ammo...
..open shelves (currently just Cabelas has this here - other places are behind the counter or locked up - Walmart))
..a vending machine (none in this area)
..from behind the counter or locked cabinet (I dislike these, because have to wait while the gun desk people assist people buying guns and scopes, etc)
..from the internet

Fortunately, I reload for most calibers I use and reloading supplies are still on open shelves.

Good for you. When we first arrived in Oklahoma, we bought a package from Kubota. Tractor, trailer, implements and the Zero turn mower. We had spoken to the salesman from VA on the phone for about 45 minutes to set up the deal, and walked in and paid cash for the purchase out of the sale of the farm in Virginia. We had sold the small tractor and all it's goodies with the farm in Virginia. The buyer was going to need them and relieved me of having to haul them across country. Plus, I wanted a tractor with a front loader, getting old.

When they delivered the Tractor and Bush Hog, the driver damaged the bush hog unloading. We'll Fix that later.
When we took the mower in for service... they made some errors. Talked to the service manager on both issues. Not happy. Spoke to the owner... "Nothing I can do, it is what it is."

"No problem, all future business will go to another Kubota Dealership."
"Fine with me," He said laughing,"I own all of them in Oklahoma." He hung up.

We have all our service and support done by the Mechanic who works on our Trucks. He orders parts in advance on line.

No vending machine for ammo here. Probably no ammo sales at Tractor Supply in NY. We need a background check for each ammunition purchase. So far they still sell air guns and those supplies at the local tractor supply. The knives are locked in a case.
I don't mind. I wouldn't be buying ammunition for firearms or airguns there most likely.

I refuse to buy ammunition in NYS, period.

We have a new Tractor Supply right here in Deer Park. I’ll stop in and see if they sell ammo, they haven’t in the past. We have a regional farm and feed store chain in Spokane called North 40 that is pretty awesome. Complete lines of ammo, guns, optics, reloading, fishing etc etc etc. All the ammo is on shelves for self service as is all reloading except powder.
