This video was produced by SAAMI "... to educate and inform fire departments nationwide and to help firefighters better address the realities of fires in which sporting ammunition is present."

It informed me and I enjoyed watching it, so I thought I'd post it for others who may not have already seen it, but who might be interested in the results. The tests involved simulations of several different situations in which ammunition could be compromised.

Here is a timeline of the tests:

2:10 impact (primer deliberately ignited outside firearm)
3:40 65 ft drop to pavement
5:08 rifle fire bullet impact
7:55 effect of blasting caps
9:55 forklift and bulldozer crush and grind
12:20 bonfire
15:37 bonfire without packaging
17:21 retail store fire simulation
20:55 tractor trailer fire simulation
