7mm-08 Federal 140 gr Copper

Post by Redthies » Tue Jun 27, 2023 10:12 am

Hi y’all. I just got the news that I was drawn for a once in a lifetime moose hunt (30th attempt at it!), and am looking for some of the Federal Trophy Copper 140 gr cartridges in preferably the “MeatEater” packaged TC bullets, but would use the 140 gr Barnes TTSX version as well.

I can’t find it anywhere online, or in a brick and mortar store. Since our membership reaches every corner of the continent, I thought I’d ask you to keep an eye open for me. I will contact whoever you see has them, and pay the ridiculous shipping…

Thanks for the help!

I don't know anything about rifle caliber ammunition, so consider the source. This is not the "MeatEater" and it is discontinued, but it's available and maybe it would be good enough. Good luck on the hunt. I look forward to reading about it.

Thanks for looking around guys. It looks like it will be a tough nut to crack, but I’ll keep looking.

Heading into Deer Park tomorrow so I’ll check Bi-mart and Double Eagle.

Congrats on the moose permit, that’s going to be fun.

Checked Bi-Mart and they didn’t have any 7mm08 at all. Surprising. But the good news is this bull was in my backyard a couple of days ago.

I have some Hornady Precision Hunter that is 150 gr. It’s what I’ll use if I don’t find any copper. The PH is not a bonded bullet though, which is weird. I don’t know why they still make hunting ammo in the old ways. So many better options these days.
