Factory 38 spl recommendations for BBoy 357?

Post by M38357 » Fri Nov 04, 2022 12:33 am

Only rounds you have experienced yourself please. I’ve seen enough here say/people who only want me to use 357. I’d like to use both. Just looking for a factory 38 that will work well when I can’t get my hands on 357. Please and thank you!

Federal "American Eagle", 158gr LRN, .38 spl at Midwayusa.com. $24.70 for 50 ct. box. They worked in my Henry when I used them. No issues.

I literally answered your question in the other thread.

I'll add to it, though, PPU 158 sucks; it didn't consistently exit the barrel of my big boy x. two out of three rounds.

Wolf performed very well.
Hornaday CD did well, but that is on the pricey side.
Federal nyclad did really well, but i use that in my revolvers.

all of my other stuff is 357mag,

As for reloads, my best groups have been with Matt's 148grain round-nose hollow points backed by 4.4 grains clean shot.
