Todays trip to the gun shop.....
Well no primers or ANY Alliant powders but plenty of Hogdon powders. A box of 50 .44 Special is running $64 bucks and glad I reload that as well as .45 Colt at 62 bucks for fifty !
Plenty of any type of shotgun ammo even some 32 gauge stuff but still no .410 to be found....why is that? Who shoots 32 gauge?
Have my eye on a nice used SW 686-6 Plus with 3 inch barrel 7 shooter! Oh no should I ???? Price is right.

Re: Todays trip to the gun shop.....
I'm seeing the same prices for 44 and 45 Colt ammo, but at least you can get it. Some of our shops don't even have 30-30 ammo and deer season comes up next month.
The 686 is a great gun, but speaking for myself, my single action 357s do anything I need to do. Prefer the SAs for target work and when it comes to woods carry for self-defense against 4 legged nasty critters, I've always been perfectly comfortable with a single action. That's me, though. If you want a 686, go for it. That's enough of a reason, right there.

Well I have one 357 in SA the Cimarron EV and a couple older DA 357 revolvers. But that 7 shooter with 3 inch barrel grabbed my attention.North Country Gal wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 1:26 pmI'm seeing the same prices for 44 and 45 Colt ammo, but at least you can get it. Had to correct here it is a new revolver and the price was a bit cheaper than other places I checked online and it is local shop. Just put deposit on it and have to wait till November to purchase.....one gun a month here in Va. which is just plain stupid!

What is a 32 ga??
I see 28 ga quite a bit.
No 410 anywhere still, did see 2 boxes of Rem. 170 gr. at one of the WW's a few days ago.
I left them for those who need 'em.

I’m glad I don’t need ammo or reloading supplies although the Hogdon was my go to powder for a lot of my reloads when I was reloading.

The 686 is a fine revolver. It's the stainless brother to the 586 I just picked up. I believe you will love it once it yours. For me, I'm a traditionalist and believe revolver should be 6 shot not 7. But if you're good with a 7 shot - go for it.
As far as purchase goes that the one gun per month VA requirement did not apply if you have a VA concealed carry permit. You might want to check that out.
