.22lr is back

Post by GunnyGene » Thu Apr 14, 2022 1:23 pm

Looks like .22lr is back around me. The Airforce Exchange gun counter got in a lot of Aguila Super Extra 40grn plated RN in the last few days, so I picked up 4 250rnd bricks this morning. They were rationing .22lr a few weeks ago, but no more. The counter girl said I could have as much as I could carry out. :) A little pricey @12cents/rnd, but I don't shoot a lot so this should last me a year or so, without dipping into my HP. Tried it out and it shoots fine in my .22's (Savage 6a, Sig 1911-22, & Buckmark), so I'm happy.

Other calibers/gauges were also in abundance, except for .22wmr, .41 mag, and a few other low volume others, due to manufacturers focus on the popular stuff - gotta make the money while you can I reckon. ;)

22 prices have been flexing lately, I've found 500 for $40 and just a couple days later it is $79. Starting to horde when I see it on sale.

A couple weeks ago it was Remington but lately Aguila or Armscor. Forgive the spelling if its incorrect.

We’ve had .22 for a bit now. Wally World has had a constant supply of CCI Standard. Now Mini Mags are coming in. Three box limit per customer per day. But they also have bulk - so you could get near a thousand rounds in three boxes. The three box limit is good so people don’t buy them out. I get three boxes of CCI or toss in a box of Winchester every time I’m there. Wife buys three boxes for me on occasion. I had a pretty god stash anyway - so three boxes at a time is fine. Rural King has a ton of Norma which I have’t tried yet. Aguilahas remained available throughout at Orscheln’s. Every trip to the neighboring town and a few boxes return home with me. Getting ready for the next shortage I suppose.

Yea it has around here also, and I've been picking up a few boxes here and there.
Probably around 3k of late. 1500 Norma Tac-22 straight from them for about half what I could find it locally and that was with shipping.
Then the standard CCI's, Aquila 40 gr, and a few CCI Stinger.

Before things went sideways, I found a good amount of Aquila 40gr HV. Eley primed. Shoots pretty good in the 39A and 25N. Think I'm set for .22lr.
