.22mag ammo velocity - rifle vs pistol Chrono

An interesting comparison of various .22mag ammo fired from a pistol and rifle. Overall the MV was nearly 34% faster out of the rifle than the pistol. That's a greater difference than I would have expected. When I get a chance and the weather cooperates, I'll be doing a similar comparison using my 9422m and LCR, and a slightly different selection of .22mag ammo to see if the results below generally hold true.

Not yet, but It will be. I'll be doing .22mag & .22lr (various bullet weights and manufacturers) in rifles and handguns. I'll be chronoing 5 shot strings to get decent statistical data.

Five shots should give you a better estimate than one.

Will have to find my data from about 10 years ago when I tested a heap of 22mag ammo, really surprising thing for me was the velocities is got with some of the 30gr loads, as high as 2400fps with one load averaging well over 2300fps.
