Ammo supply good in your ‘hood?

Post by Redthies » Fri Jan 08, 2021 1:28 am

How are ammo stocks where you folks live? It’s getting to be slim pickens near me. I’m not running low by any means, but when I go to buy some .357 or .30-30 you only get two choices... Take it, or leave it!

Comparatively speaking, availability is slightly better than it was 3 months ago, but not even close to what it was a year ago. And prices are up across the board, sometimes significantly higher.

Well, at least you get a choice. I see empty shelves. Maybe, I would fair better in a bigger city or different part of the Country. But for now, I am good.

I made a three store tour for components yesterday and just for fun looked at the ammo shelves. A box or two here and there of low demand calibers but mostly nothing, One store did have some PPU 30-30 150 grain which surprised me. But for the most part, very empty shelves.

I won't need any for quite a while but looks a little thin everywhere.

I can't say about around here as I've not been in a gun shop or sporting goods store in the past 2 mons or longer.

Monday I believe it was, I went by WW for a couple things for the wife. I walked by the sporting goods dept. all they had was a few, and I mean very few boxes of 12 ga shotgun shells. That was it.

The local store where I got the primers this morning had more as well. Didn't want to clean them out...today. But the wrath of my bank card is about to descend upon them this week...Looks like nobody buys large pistol primers around here. Until now... :)

Stopped by my LGS around noon and placed filled with folks looking around and some buying guns. Was a small batch of 9mm ammo but that was about it. No primers of course but I did buy the last two boxes of those 45 200 gr. FTX bullets. Used up my gift card and kicked in 20 bucks.
Oh and no .22 ammo on the shelves either!

The primers I bought today are Federal. Never used them before. Always use Winchester ones. The other ones they had were CCI.
