Hornady has a new bullet for your .50 cal Hawken or similar. Couple of videos at the link.

To each there own but round balls are my fav. I guess its just the old cowboy in my heart. Born a 100 plus years to late.

same here for practice .... I thoroughly enjoy reading and learning about new stuff but when push comes to serve, I almost always stick with the old .... that said, if I was to ever to big game hunt with it again, I'd probably test it or a bullet like it

Looks interesting, unless I missed it, I wonder what their brand and powder load was for those numbers in the chart. I presume it was maximum allowable charge for the Thompson used.

That's likely right. Just from a marketing standpoint.
