Where can I find Federal Hammerdown for .357 mag ???

Post by Darryl Moore » Sun Nov 14, 2021 10:11 pm

Looking for .357 mag in Federal Hammerdown to enjoy hunting with my Big Boy X. Where on earth can I order some? None in local stores, checked the Federal website daily for the past month. Cannot locate it through ammoseek.com and other sites. I would welcome any input about how to purchase some from those who have purchased it within the past 60 days. (I have called Federal, but cannot get any of the ladies to explain why their website has only shown unavailable for almost 2 months. They keep saying that I should continue checking the site, but didn't answer my Q about why it's not showing up as available and are they actually manufacturing it.)

If you're wanting it for this season, you probably should consider alternatives. The way things are now, none of us can be overly picky.

You can get other .357 that will do the job, such as this from Underwood - yeah it's expensive:

Thanks for the recommendation, GunnyGene! It is frustrating that Federal does not provide a clear answer to me. Either Federal is producing it and selling it via the site OR not. I'll check this site and ammo. I posted another Q in this forum about recommended grain weights for my BBX. Any preference for .38 and .357? ex. 158 gr

Sorry no. I haven't shot .38 or .357 in anything except a model 60 Smith. I pointed you to Underwood based on the overall quality of their entire line up. I've been buying their .41 mag XTP (BBSC deer round) & 9mm for several years, and I can vouch for the very consistent performance and quality of their products. Take a look at the reviews on their site for the .357mag in a Henry.

Is that the Federal Premiun Hunting with the Castcore FN bullet? Those are thumpers! Not being able to find those anywhere, led me to load my own 180's[Missouri rnfp coated]. Those Fed 180's are something.
