I just purchased a Henry side gate 45-70. the only ammo I was able to find, was Doubletap 405 gr Hard cast. Is this ammo o.k. to shoot in the brass rifles?

Yes, the Underwood ammo is good stuff. It is punchy on both ends. The cowboy stuff is a lot tamer. Think about reloading seriously unless of course your sitting on Ft. Knox. You can run the full gambit of very well behaved Trapdoor loads to near .458 magnum. I hope you will like your new Henry.

I can feel that one before you pull the trigger. It will say hello to you for sure.

I called Henry. Should be no problem with 405 gr.

I agree with MuddyWaters .... when you pull the trigger, be prepared for a punch
Re: solid hard cast
It'll get your attention for sure. The Henry action is over built like a tank so any factory load is fine. If reloading just follow established data
