Drifts are melting.....lots of broken fence. Thats what April will be all about.

I have stretched a fair amount of fence myself. It is peaceful work.

I don't mind it. The cowboys on the Waldron Grazing range nearby have a busy fence season....over 600 miles of it to check and repair.

I wouldnt mind medin some fence especially if it was with a cowboy from Alberta

600 miles is quite a long fence repair, RR.
I can "see" that distance easily, because it is 545 miles from my place here in KCMO to my former home in Bristol, Wisconsin!!

BTW, how long is the fence span you'll need to work on?

I don't have near that much....I can get all of mine done in a day or so if I keep at it. Lots of busted wires this year.

What makes the wire break over the winter?

The weight and shifting of frozen drifted snow; I have several pastures where the fences have been buried since December. Just starting to see some post tops now.

Almost sounds like a glacier effect; except the frozen, drifted snow moves at a "quicker" pace.
Maybe before winter the horses nudged up to the posts and whispered, "Don't fence me in."

Got most of the back pasture fence done today. Also hung a new door on the house, the old one was a wreck and held shut with a bungee cord most of the winter until I could get at it. It was a nice bungee cord but still...

New decks front, side and back are the next upgrade this summer. Maybe new steel on roof too. Plus a coat of stain on the house. In my spare time.

Horses got out finally for a what I thought would be a romp around the pasture; nope. Barely got out of the corral, heads down and eating grass. Had to chase them to get them to run up the hill. They will get out tomorrow for another short time as well. Try to get them out for 30 minutes a day for a week or so. Can't take in rich spring grass too fast or they will founder. Moderation until they are used to it again.

I can relate. I should romp around the pasture a whole lot more than I do or want to. Unfortunately, I don't have RR to to chase me up that hill.

understood CT, my romping days are long gone .... I'm pretty much in the hobbled category now days ..

good to hear that's still the plan .... I'm working on our son to buy a golf cart to take us from the firing line to the targets ... I mean really, 10 yard walks add up ....

More fence to do on Saturday. This morning I put a coat of stain on the west wall of the house (log siding). That wall takes a beating from the rain, snow, wind, snow, dust, snow, sun, snow....
