Gelcoat Repairs

during the 17+ years our 2006 SunnyBrook has bounced down the road from ocean to ocean and border to border it has held together really well .... when parts fail they have been repaired or replaced to where they usually exceed OEM specs .... this week we parked her beside (too long to fit inside) a body shop for some gelcoat repairs .... the damaged areas were on both bottom corners of front cap .... the areas involved and the scope of the repairs can be seen in the pictures below .... under normal circumstances I'd of gone with repairing the damage, removing the large decal and redoing the entire finish so it would not show the repairs .... doing so would have required mega bucks so we didn't decide to go with that option .... my first thought was cover the repair area with flag or other decals but after a bunch of looking couldn't come up with any that wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb .... based on a recommendation from the body shop, we went with repairing the areas and covering them with material they use to wrap vehicles .... lets just say that, while not perfect, proved to be much more economical .... I don't figure anyone will notice while we are traveling down the road and as the wraps age they will fit more and more into the faded decal and general appearance of the front cap
