plasma cutter

Post by Ernie » Thu Oct 15, 2020 6:22 pm

Bought a Lotos 50 amp plasma cutter on Prime Day at Amazon. The unit I have been looking at was $70 off so I pulled the trigger and it was delivered the next day. With my new welder and plasma cutter wired up and ready I have some steel coming so I can work on a couple projects that have been needed done.

Still have some welders, generators, drill press, kayak , and a few other things to sell to make more room to do projects I want to work on this winter. I can see a lot more of the floor.

That's a nice addition to your shop equipment. What type steel projects will you be doing?

I was a welder/fitter for years. I never had the privilege of working with a plasma cutter but our pantograph operator sure cut out some nice steel with ours. Get you some good A-500 steel and make some gongs.

My brother-in-law retired from being a medical doctor. Then he went to welding school at the age of 68. He said he always wanted to be a welder but his dad pushed him to become a doctor.

Tomorrow going to upgrade the mailbox bracket for a larger box, then I need a sturdy shelf to support an air compressor next to the overhead door to get it off a workbench. Thinking of beefing up my utility trailer or... making a trip to the trailer surplus stores in Elkhart for wheels/fenders, hitch, and lights to make a new trailer.
Will have to see what else.
Can't shoot metal targets at my range so a gong is not on my immediate list but thanks for the suggestion.

Checked out the local options for classes but there are none scheduled this year with the covid.
