I do not recall the model but the first Henry I ever bought was like the one you described. It was blued with and had a black plastic butt plate and a heavy round barrel. I sold it years ago but now wish I had held onto it since I never saw another like it again. Now I have the H009B since I like the heavy octagon barrel. Would like to get the case hardened 30-30 octagon barrel in the future.

Don’t you just love stores that do that? This is how I found and bought an extremely rare Marlin 1895 STP years ago. Is that the Double Eagle Deer Park store? It is a pretty rifle but unless you are a collector the bull barrel makes no sense to me, IMHO a thutty thutty should be light and handy. Henry’s are already too porky! Buy it and get the barrel fluted, then you will really have something interestingHatchdog wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 5:54 pmSo I was just in my LGS checking inventory for a Henry steel 30-30. Being as the store has their long guns in standing racks out on the floor and since they mix all brands and calibers of levers together, when looking for a particular caliber I just look at the bore diameter.

Hi John,
Yep the Double Eagle in Deer Park. This rifle is long gone, I probably should have bought it just because it’s not common but I really want an X model for my Henry 30-30. One of these days one will show up in a local store.
