Today I did a little work on the CCH 45 Carbine to smooth out the lever action just as I had done on my .357 rifle.
Work consist of a lighter spring in lever plunger and polishing the plunger edge and a radius and polish on hammer where the bolt slides across.
Also lightly stoned sharp corners on hammer where your thumb will contact during operation.

That's a smart looking rifle.

That would be the "Forty's Happy Sight" ! One of my uses for an old hacksaw blade...the holes are perfect size for a ghost ring type sight and for me makes it easier to get on target. Custom fitted to slip right in the Henry sight base. Easy to adjust for elevation and of course will work with the factory front sight. My other two Henrys have it as well.

Thanks, I use a receiver peep bu I think I would like that better. Just cut off the end of the hacksaw blade?

Well you have to shape it up for a nice slip fit and keep hole centered side to side.

Brother_Love, check out Forty's thread, "How to make the Ghost Ring sight....." in which he describes the process he used to modify the saw blade. Very helpful instructions are included.

Thanks, I found it. I will be in the shop tomorrow to fabricate one of these.

A great set-up. I wish my eyes were young again. so I could use a set-up like yours. Very simple and effective !

That sure seems to be a problem with us old cowpokes. The older we get, the worse our eyes get. It's a catch 22 because the older I get, I want to make my rifle lighter to carry and would love ditching the scope just to lesson the weight but now the eyes won't let me do that.
