What is every one using for gun bags for the Henry Big Boy series rifles? Not using a scope on this rife plus being only 38” long, they just slop around in most cases. Soft or hard case, I’m open ti all suggestions

Make sure your hard case has some quality 'eggshell' foam in it that closes tightly down on the rifle when closed.

Yes. If I go the hard case route, it will be a Pelican style case. Pricey but the best. Kind of hoping to get a soft case but I will see what I can find. It’s slopping around in one of my Cabela soft cases for now

PT7 gave me a RedHead soft case this summer. It is doing a good job protecting my steel carbine. I used a cheaper hard case previously. It was just adequate.

I have a couple of hard cases, but 99% of the time my lever guns are just in inexpensive soft cases. The ones I have are made by “Gunmate”. I bought them a lot of years ago, and they have no signs of wear at all. Nice thick foam in them, and beefy cordura outer. I also have a nice Ruger soft case that has a big side pocket for ammo etc. None of my cases cost more than $40, and I’ve never had any damage to my guns even when there is 8-12 of them stacked up in the back seat of the truck.

My daughter bought me a soft case that I transport my rifles in. I have a hard case. But, it does not see much action.

I saw those. They look nice. Seems like you could put a scoped rifle in them. From what I have seen, I'm thinking a soft shotgun case may be the way to go. If I can fine one short enough!

Another hard case option is to cut and fit some closed cell polyethylene packing foam in your hard case. Trace and cut out a shaped, 'relief' depression in the bottom section for the rifle to 'nest' in and the top section will compress down when shut
A careful job on this will result in a snug and secure way to prevent movement of the rifle in the case.

We have several cases that we have used for our Henrys, but I think the best case for a lever gun is one we found at Cabella's. It opens on only one end and really does a good job of keeping our Henrys secure - works great for both Big Boy rifles and carbines. It may not be big enough for a Henry with a scope, though...

I bought Ruger branded 10/22 cases for my Henry’s. They fit very well and seem to be good quality. I’ll post some pics when I get home.

I have a Plano hard case and a Canyon padded leather zipup.
The hard case came with egg carton shaped foam in the lid and full foam block in the bottom that you custom carve out the shape of your rifle.
The padded leather zipup fits like a glove hugging the rifle when zipped up.

The one I have is dark brown. This is the tan version

I also have a smaller matching one for my Uberti revolver.

I have two of the orange soft cases that Henry sells. They are simple and function well and fit all my Henry's, with or without scopes.

I like that end load idea. I was at Cabelas here in Canada yesterday and didn't see any like that. I'll check the south side super next week

Here are the pics of my Ruger 10/22 cases. One for my BBSC 357 and one for my Golden Boy 22LR. The only thing I don’t like about them is the fact that they have “Ruger 10/22” monogrammed on them. They are made very well and have two pockets on the outside. The guns fit very well in them. I also have one made by Plano for my BBB 357. It’s also very nice and fits very well but I cannot find any more of them. I bought all these cases at my local Academy Sports. I keep the rifles in gun socks even when they’re in the cases.

These are internal pictures of mine. Both fit a scope mounted rifle. I like the padding inside the Canyon leather cases.
