When I called Henry re: warranty service on my SGC, before we hung up, I mentioned another slight problem re: my BBS 357. The fore arm where it meets the receiver moves very slightly up and down. As I said, " very slightly ". Anyway, Tom quickly said they would send me a replacement. 3 to 4 days later, I received it.
Color match is good, but I like the grain on the old one better. Question is ; would you leave it as it is, or swap it out?
Would send pics, but getting clear close-ups seems to be a problem for me...

As the saying goes: Life is full of trade-offs.

The question here is: which would bug you more: the lack of fit (of the one that came from the factory) or the "lesser" grain (of the replacement part)?

That assumes, of course, that the replacement part doesn't wiggle as well, so I'd probably start there. Swap it out, see how it looks, mounted, and then decide. If it still wiggles, then you have a whole other set of decisions!

I would do what E2 said, and if I preferred the look of the first one, or they both wiggle a bit, I’d look at ways to stop the wiggle. I can think of a few different ways to accomplish the latter, depending on how and where it is loose.

Shim it with some good tape where it doesn't show and put the one that came on it back on.

Has anyone removed one? If so, is this an easy task?

This is more or less what I was getting at. As for removal, I’m sure there are a few YouTube videos on how to do it. I would imagine you just remove the screws in the fore-end cap and gently slide it forward and/or downward.

Thanks Redthies. Might research that today and try it. It looks like it should be relatively easy.

Have the same problem with my steel .44 Mag Carbine and talked to Henry about it.
I just wanted to remove it enough to put a narrow strip of black Gorilla tape around the recessed milled edge that locks it in place to take up the clearance.
Only video I have seen on the Carbine is the Henry assembly video and the last piece that goes in place is the dove tailed magazine support
bracket at end of barrel. That piece has to be removed as in tapped out so you can have some mag tube movement to remove the slip in front foregrip retainer. That is what Henry Tech told me.
When you remove yours let us know how it goes.

Aluminum metal duct tape would take care of that worry. Also a rubber electrical tape won't melt.

Yup.

Remember to tap the tube out from left to right according to the Henry rep. I have to do the same thing to mine. Probably this weekend

I would keep the original and shim it up tight, and return the other forearm to Henry.

The general consensus seems to be, shim it. I commend your thinking re: sending the replacement back . If the shim holds up after next range visit, then that might be the right thing to do.
