I just got a new Brass Stacker leather rifle sling and bandolier for my BBSC 357 magnum. It’s a beauty and seems to be very high quality. I couldn’t be happier with it! I need to find a water resistant product to treat it with. Any suggestions?

The denizens around here seem to like Renaissance wax.. I think it is leather friendly. I have used neatsfoot oil on my leather goods for years...

Your sling is awesome. I went with the simple 'Claw' sling. Very functional.

Great looking sling and bandolier! I decided to start small with Brass Stacker and ordered a long-length lever wrap for my BBB 45 Carbine, and it's supposed to show up today.

As far as leather care, for years I've started with new leather stuff by using "Bicks No. 4". It conditions and softens the hide and soaks in quickly so no gunky residue. It's made as a tack product, so I'd guess that it would help in terms of moisture protection, but RenWax is good for that, too (but only on the slick side - RenWax and suede is no bueno!).

"Obenauf's" works really well on both the finished and unfinished side of leather. [updated: it will darken the leather].

Ren Wax, as noted, does good on the finished side of leather. The unfinished side drinks up the Ren Wax and you wouldn't notice it's there until the leather is saturated with it. It takes a lot of Ren Wax to do that.

It was here that I became aware of Ballistol. It is great on leather as well. BTW, that IS a beautiful sling deano!

Very nice sling on the BBS! Hand crafted leather goods just have an appeal that can't be matched by nylon and neoprene. I like the option of being able to adjust the length of my sling, so I haven't spent the money for leather. I actually tried to install a Claw sling on my BBS Carbine last night and found the eye of the lower sling stud is undersized on my rifle. I tried 2 other slings on it and none of the "pins" of the slings would pass through the eye of the lower stud. I sent an email to Henry customer service this AM to see if they have suggestions.

Love your sling! Just ordered one for my .44

This old cowboy uses neatsfoot oil on saddles, gear, etc. It will darken the leather, heads up for that. But it will preserve the leather.
