Just got my Evil Roy carbine. It's beautiful and the action is fantastic! Haven't shot it yet but I did add it to the forum's Henry totals.

I'm thinking of adding a leather wrap and looked at the YouTube videos for both the Brass Stacker and the Pioneer Gun Works. Is there a stronger preference for either of them online, here?

Or is there a better option?

I've bought Brass Stacker products and like them. I have no experience with Pioneer Gun Works products. So I don't know which has a better product.

FWIW, I got two of the PGW wraps - one regular and one longer, for the SGC. I was kinda sold on the YouTube vid that showed how the kit came with the little loop that enables you to pull the ends under at the end, but I'd imagine they'd all do that (not that I could figure it out!). Here's how the regular length turned out. I thought it looked short out of the box, but it turned out fine. I'm sure they're both great!

I’ve got a PGW wrap on both my Henrys. I’m pleased with the fit a quality. Making one is fine, but time is money for me, so I like being able to spend 10 mins installing and being ready to go. If I were retired it would be a different story.

So, is this just an aesthetics thing, or does it serve a purpose?

In the big scheme of things some might say it 'softens' the lever on the fingers, maybe provides a little insulation in freezing weather - but I have been flingin' a lever for a LONG time (in all weather conditions) and never needed one - but I guess some have the need to add leather to their rifle - and I can appreciate that - heck I might just make one for one of my rifles!

There is an aesthetic.
I make mine from a pliable buffalos hide and it really does soften a day of shooting lever actions.
Helps prevent that pain in the second knuckle of my middle finger when shooting lever action pressure 45-70.

I make all my lever wraps on my race guns so I can adjust the thickness to fit my fingers for fast levering .

That Rossi has great looking Tiger Wood! Nice job on those wraps!

I tried a couple but could not get used to it.

To us SASS/CAS match shooter the fit is everything to us . Here is the way I hold and shoot a rifle with 3 fingers

I have a Pioneer Gun Works in black leather on my H001. I have to admit, its purely for aesthetics. I just like to way it looks.

For me, it's probably 70% aesthetics/30% function, as it does lessen the impact of the lever on the back of your knuckles, which can add up with long range sessions with a .22LR.

Am I the only one that hooks their thumb in the lever to throw it? I can't remember doing it any other way.

I'm convinced on the PGW wrap. I spoke with Jim, Sr. yesterday and he told me to measure what I wanted as I have the Big Loop. Where to I measure? A to B or A to C?

It looks like if you turn that corner between B and C, it might start to bunch up. I would stick with A to B.
