late this afternoon I got my first hands-on look at our new Henry H012 Big Boy Steel .44 Mag .... must say that I'm impressed .... fit and finish are exceptional .... quick 4 shot test in the back yard turned out great .... firing pin really hits the primer .... hope to get it out to fire several hundred rounds on Tuesday .... at this point, we are all smiles .... she goes in on Tuesday to have a scope mounted

kind comments appreciated .... we went through a period when we bought what we needed/wanted but its been several decades since our family purchased a firearm .... during our research leading up to this purchase we read of a deterioration in the craftsmanship seen in all too many, historically very good, American manufactures .... frankly, we didn't want to believe it but now have no doubt its sadly true .... I guess that's the reason that Henry's fit and finish, solid construction, design, support after the sale seem so remarkable .... with a second Henry 45-70 on order we are excited at the prospect of adding another quality firearm to our family's collection

we do have a 45-70 on order, should find out tomorrow exactly which model our dealer has been able to find .... we'd be very happy with an H010 but the last we heard, none were available from our dealer's suppliers .... if that is still the case we will go with an H010CC

Those Henry's are nice looking rifles.
as this is being typed, she is at our local firearms dealer having a 3-9 Nikon installed .... with our decision to purchase 2 Henry rifles we decided to take the opportunity to swap some scopes so as to better match them to our rifle collection .... the 4-12 Nikon that has been on a 300 WBY Mag will be replaced by a stronger/newer Nikon .... that scope will be moved to a 30-06 and its current 3-9 Nikon will be moved to the Henry 44 Mag .... in a separate transaction, we will remove a 3-9 Nikon from a 308 and install it on a Henry 45-70 we have on order .... a new 4-12 Nikon will be purchased for the 308 .... the older 3-9's are still crystal clear and should work well on the Henry's .... do plan to take pictures and hopefully a range report from when we get the new Henry's on a range later this week

OK, you can now color me as highly impressed .... 3-9 Nikon added .... once we got it sighted in, she preformed really well .... target shows 10 rounds fired at 80 yards .... Oregon Trail Laser-Cast Bullets 44 Caliber (431 Diameter) 240 Grain Lead Semi-Wadcutter bullets, Unique, Large Pistol Magnum primers .... the same practice ammo used in our Ruger RedHawk ....

That is impressive, it's also a pretty rifle. I'm betting when you get your .45-70 it'll shoot just as well!
Thanks for sharing.

we took our 44 out again today and were delighted with its performance .... it is sighted in for our lower power (low 44 special) reloads .... today we were shooting at skeet stood up in a holder at 80 yards .... all in all we fired something over 100 rounds and it performed flawlessly .... within the next day or so we plan to disassemble it for a thorough cleaning and are interested to see if there are any issues with lead in the barrel
