Can I fix it?

My new Big Boy steel rifle is developing a problem.
Model H012M327 in .327 Fed/mag
The first 100 or so rounds ran flawlessly.
The subsequent 300 rounds or so have been problematic.

I'm now getting light primer strikes resulting in a failure to fire.
The problem seems to be exacerbated with use.
The more I shoot, the more often it occurs.

I'm now getting a failure to fire about 30% of the time, and I'm using factory Federal American Eagle ammo.
I've run many different lots of ammo, as well as a couple of other brands.

I'm having problems regardless of the ammo manufacturer.
I've deep cleaned and properly lubed the rifle, but to no avail.

Is there anything I can do, or does my rifle need to go back to Bayonne for a visit?

About three years ago, I had that happen with my Big Boy, too. I didn't even consider DYI.

Henry turned it around within ten days. The bolt has a two piece firing pin and the piece in the rear had to be replaced. At the same time, they also replaced the locking bar and the transfer bar.

30% FTF sounds high. Since you've eliminated ammo as the culprit, I'd go with having Henry check out your BB. They will get it firing correctly. Henry service for my rifles has been especially helpful to me, especially since I have minimal gunsmithing skills.

I agree. 30% failure to fire is not a functional gun. Send it to Henry.

agree with the others .... send it back .... I think too much of our Henry rifles to work on them myself ..

I went ahead and emailed Henry to request warranty service.
Really don't want to send it back, but I do want it to run as advertised, so...

I'd send it back also. I've got a .327 BB Steel myself. So far no problems and I've run probably 1000 rounds through it at least. <Edit: Let us know how it goes. I'm hoping I don't run into the same problem.>

NO ONE wants to send a gun back including me. But perfection in life just isnt accomplished all the time. Good job sending it back> Henry will make it right.

Yeah, I'll be excited to get it back.
I had just enough working time on the lever that the action was really smoothing out.
It was smooth to start with, but just kept getting slicker as I ran more rounds through it.

I'm hoping, since it has been returned for warranty work, it will be given a complete and detailed inspection.
This being the case, I hope to have a brand new broken-in rifle when it returns.

Very interested in this because my h010 is next to be shipped back.
About 15-20% ftf.
Also has a firing pin size dimple worn in the transfer bar.
If I get ftf I have always had it fire when recocked and refired 2 or 3 times.
Bought used but 95% condition so maybe only a few hundred shots through it(mostly mine)...probably why it was sold.
I like it and am ok with it if it is properly repaired.

First of all, call Henry Customer Support and describe the problem you're having with your rifle to a Henry rep. For a return, they will email a UPS shipping label. You may need to get an outer box for it, even if you have the original Henry box. If you have neither, tell the CS rep you need their help with that.

Let us know how you make out.

I had two FTF (failure to fire) rounds today at the range. I went, "Oh, Boy!" (not what I really said). Hope this isn't the beginning of problems for me. If it is I'll have Henry also address the bluing issue.

You do mean failure to fire, right?
Not failure to feed. I had no issues at all with feeding.
As a matter of fact, mine seemed to feed even .32S&W longs just fine, and I was THRILLED with that revelation.

Those S&W longs out of a rifle with a 20" barrel are like a loud cap-gun, and less recoil than some .22's.

If I recall the times I needed Henry gunsmithing services, the explanations of the return tickets were very short/concise. If not enough to explain what you need to know, I'd call them. I did that when I had the challenges of the .30-30 back in early 2014. That problem with the lever popping open during magazine ammo loading was an across-the-board problem, and Henry was busy with many requests (as they also are today). But my persistent phone calls got me all the way to the gunsmith shop manager that time! I was surprised, but finally got all info I needed.

Henry will bend over backwards to help out.

Well, the action was as slick as you could ask for, and it shot to point of aim, so it about had to be bolt or firing pin related.
I'm expecting nothing more than, "Replaced bolt/firing pin".

That would be fine with me.

Came home today.
I only ran 10 rounds through, but it had zero light strikes.
The repair tag read simply, "Replaced bolt and tuned".
Whatever they did, it seemed to work.
