I'm thinking it's about time I start thinking about adding another Henry. Why? Well, ya can rationalize anything.

Seriously, I've got this problem. Until about a year and a half ago, I had a number of rifles to my name, and one solitary handgun. That all began to change when I bought a new revolver, a Ruger Blackhawk, and got to really liking it. Suddenly, I looked up and found that I had a whole pile of revolvers, and there seemed to be no end in sight.

I've got a revolver problem. I wonder if there are meetings for that?

So... I'm thinking the only adult and responsible thing to do is to stop buying revolvers... and get new rifle instead. Like I said, you can rationalize anything.

I'm seriously thinking about one of the new single shot models when they become available. Maybe a .45-70, but more likely a .223.

hope you find one soon, I'm really looking forward to the first range reports on a 45-70 single shot .... I can't see any way they won't kick like a proverbial army mule ..

Speaking as someone who can shoot a .22 in the back yard, I think it would be REALLY FUN to get a Henry .22 pump.

Add a few Nathan hot dogs, and I'm at Coney Island, baby.................

But a .223/5.56 in single shot or even bolt would be sweet as well.

I could shoot in my yard until I moved back here to Wisconsin. If I still had my backyard range, a Henry pump would be just the ticket.

Don't know how it would apply to your situation, but I, too, once found myself going almost exclusively handgun. Then, back in the great ammo shortage days, I resurrected my love of airgun shooting and started shooting airguns on an almost daily basis. Yes, we do have some outstanding air pistols in our collection, but due to the limitations on power, the vast majority of air pistols are basically 10 meter shooters. Just don't have enough power for longer distance shooting.

That left air rifles for shooting at 20 to 50 yards. Really brought me back to rifles in a big way. Since our backyard range is so frequently in shadows, that meant mostly scoped air rifles for the sake of seeing the targets. Added in my love of shooting offhand and there you have an explanation of why I do so much of my offhand shooting, air gun or powder gun, with scoped rifles. Can't get out to the club range to shoot our powder guns every day, but I usually manage to do some air gun shooting mot days with one of the scoped rifles.

Well, I bought a decent little .223 bull barrel bolt action a few years ago. My Henry .357 probably sees more rounds in a range session than the .223 has seen in the 4 years I have owned it. I really wish I had gotten it in .308 instead. That would have made a great hunting rifle.

Note, if I had easy access to a 100 yd range, I would likely use the .223 more.

So... what I think I hear you saying is that you need a .308 Long Ranger?

Actually, I took the .223 to the range today for the first time in a while. I finally got around to remounting the scope on it, and needed to sight it in. After getting the scope set, I put 3 rounds through the same hole at 25 yds. Not a cloverleaf, but a slightly irregular .223 hole. I might get a bipod for it, and try doing the prone thing, just to liven up a little used, but very accurate rifle.

I've got a revolver problem. I wonder if there are meetings for that? Ditto those classes dont work. Dont ask me how i know. Ive lost control and Im still buying. Go ahead get one of each 223 and 308 then you will never wonder.

Get that pump there great and you need one.

Well, if you have a Ruger Black Hawk, Henry most likely makes a lever rifle in that same cartridge.

I'm a sucker for single action / lever action combos!

I do have a Ruger Blackhawk. I suppose a Big Boy in .357/.38 wouldn't be a bad idea.
