thanks for the link .... no surprise at the positive evaluations .... if I hunted in really wet weather, I'd be most interested in their all weather editions

Since I mostly hunt in New England an all weather .308 would be a SERIOUS temptation. If the Long Ranger .308 sells well I bet we'll see an "all weather" in .308 pretty quick.

you are probably correct .... when you check them out, right down to their rotary bolt, Henry's Long Ranger is very much like Browning's BLR .... we have one of the Belgium made early edition BLR's .... I have no doubt their 308 will be well received in the market

Considering that Browning has no specific warranty with their guns and that they make you pay shipping in both directions even if they decide that it was a manufacturing problem that caused you to have a problem with one of their guns then I would certainly expect the HRA "Long Ranger" and "All Weather" to soon outsell the BLR. Dunno about anyone else, but I won't buy any product from a company that thinks they are so big and important that they don't need to stand behind their product. You couldn't pay me enough to get me to buy a gun with the name Browning on it. Sorry to be a little touchy on the subject, but Browning is one of the true bottom feeders of the firearms industry. A company with no morals or decency.

interesting .... I've never heard comments like that about them .... as noted we've had ours since the '60's and it has never given any problems

Browning 525 16 gauge. Bought new. 5 broken firing pins in under 1700 rounds. All light target loads. Cracked stock from shooting only light target loads. Browning never once paid shipping either way. Charged me more than 75% of the original purchase price to replace the broken stock. I should have sold that gun off long ago but I keep it around because I don't want to foist a lemon off on someone else and to remind myself to never buy a Browning product. They DO make good guns, but they don't stand behind their products when they build a lemon.
